a new level of healthy, joyful living, and will enable you to
perform better in everything you do.
Most of the time we are not able to reach the level of performance in our daily activities or specialized skills by working harder.
Optimal performance comes about through bringing to consciousness physical habits that add stress and strain to our bodies, causing us to work harder due to unnecessary tension..
Our natural abilities and learned skills are often encumbered
by mind/body habits.
Learning to free our bodies in movement and regain our natural postural organization enables us to reach a new level of enhanced quality of performance in everything we do.
The Alexander Technique has a hundred history of allowing people, in all walks of life, to change their habits of movement to function better and perform well. Leading to overall greater wellness and less stress.
"I just completed four one-on-one Zoom classes with Jane, and every hour with her was packed. I wanted to reconnect with the Alexander Technique and explore the MELT Method, and I knew Jane was certified in both. I learned so much more than I expected. Even though we were on Zoom, I felt like we were in the same room together."
Michael C., M.F.A.
University Professor Emeritus in acting, stage director,
and film and stage actor

on Zoom, and in small group in-person Alexander classes.
"I recommend people to the Alexander Technique who have not improved with traditional rehabilitative therapies. Some of their pain may be due to compressed posture and the improper use of their bodies. Many people who have neck or back pain and have gone through heat, ultrasound and massage with no relief can be helped by learning the Alexander Technique. It definitely works. Nothing works for everyone, but as one well-versed in using physical therapy and biofeedback, I know how valuable this technique is. I highly recommend it."Barry M. Schienfeld, MD, Specialist in Rehabilitation Medicine and Pain Management, Community General Hospital, Harris, NY
The MELT Method is a simple self-treatment method that helps to eliminate chronic pain, improves performance, and decreases the accumulated stress caused by the repetitive postures and movements of everyday living.
The MELT method was created by manual therapist, Sue Hitzmann,
as the very first Hands-off Bodywork® method developed as a self-care tool to prevent and relieve chronic pain, which supports healthy posture and movement.
As a certified MELT Instructor, Jane teaches the MELT Method in private sessions both in-person and on Zoom. Jane also offers small group MELT Method classes on Zoom.
"Working with Jane on the MELT method has really transformed my home injury prevention practice. The techniques and tools are subtle yet powerful. It feels like it’s nurturing my nervous system as it works on the fascia, and it’s sometimes surprising how dramatic the effects can be even after a short MELT session. As a full-time musician and fitness enthusiast, I have to be very mindful of repetitive strain injuries and this gives me a very accessible practice to manage that. Also, working with Jane is a particularly rich experience due to her expertise in the Alexander Technique, which is quite complimentary to the MELT method. I was also pleasantly surprised with how well the sessions worked on Zoom."
L. Gould, Professional Jazz Musician

"I have known and worked with Jane for more than fifteen years. During that time I have attended group sessions she has led for performing artists and the general public and have had many private lessons with her. I have also had her lead sessions in person and online with voice students in my academic institution. Jane's performing arts background is in theater, and from those experiences she has a great understanding and empathy for performers in training. The most striking thing about Jane's teaching in my view is her ability to combine warmth and gentle guidance with a sense of play. These qualities help put the persons she shares her knowledge with at ease, helping them to be in a more receptive state of mind."

Jane's use of words is uncomplicated and her demonstrations are precisely explained. Jane has acclimated to Zoom teaching with her usual thoughtfulness to detail and desire to ensure that her students gain as much as they would from an in-person lesson."

"I arrived at Jane’s doorstep with 'severe degenerative disease' in my lower back and a neck that had seized up solid. Not a pretty picture. During the learning process, Jane was unfailingly gentle, patient, kind, non-judgmental, cheerful, optimistic and extraordinarily insightful. I always trusted that I would not be hurt in any way. She shared her very deep and broadly-based knowledge and experience freely, was exceedingly generous with her time. I consider my lessons in the Alexander Technique to have been a superb investment in my future and highly recommend Jane as the ideal guide to have at your side."
